Red Community: Stroke Awareness Campaign (SSF)

The Stroke Survivors Foundation (SSF) youth awareness video is the initiative of KES Old Boy George Scola, Class of 1988 (who is a stroke survivor himself) and we are trying to make the youth aware of the dangers of strokes and that it is not just older people who suffer from them.

We’d like to encourage our Red Army to please view the video, like and share ahead of World Stroke Day on 29 October to raise awareness and hopefully some funding for the foundation.

Three of King Edward’s Junior Councillors Nkululeko Mkari, Dylan Curtis and Masingita Mkhawane all in Grade 11 were involved in the production & script of this video. Furthermore Shane Duthie in Grade 11 is ‘Frikkie’ – the stroke victim in the video.

Well done to our lads on been involved in such a campaign & now let us support them, by sharing and viewing the production.

Good to see our boys involved in the community on various platforms and showing support for various projects.

Go School.

KES sportsmen bring home Gold, Silver & Bronze at Macabbi 2017!

Rugby: Macabbi SA Teams 2017

Thomas played in the SA 7’s Team and they reached the final, winning GOLD vs Israel.

Then Thomas and David also reached the final for the 15 man game and there they brought home Silver medals.

Furthermore KES players were selected to represent South Africa in the Junior SA Macabbi Rugby Team:

Adam Flaum
Tannur Dworcan
Judd Steiner
Jayden Collet

Here our the SA Junior Rugby Team brought home Bronze medals in the 7’s Games and Silver in the 15 man Games.

Well done to our KES rugby players on representing School and Country with such passion & pride at Macabbi Games 2017.

Athletics: Macabbi Games 2017

King Edward’s Aeidan Houghton took part in the SA Macabbi Athletics Team

100 Meter Final Result: Aeidan ran a personal best in the 100 meter final of a 11.3. He came 4th in the final. A superb run. The UK runner that won the 100m ran a 10.5 and is currently seeded number 2 in Europe, so the competition was an excellent experience and opportunity for Aeidan.

200 Meter Final Result:
Aeidan qualified again with a Personal Best of 23.33, just before he went on to run the final, his calf went into a total spasm. The USA team Physio went to him and pulled him off the track. He said if he ran he would tear his calf. His qualifying time would have won him a silver medal when put among the race results. So it was terribly disappointing for him.

Well done to Aeidan on representing School and Country so admirably at the Games.

Congratulations to all, we are very proud of your efforts. Go School.
