KES Old Boy De Kock named KFC Man of Series!

King Edward VII School Old Boy and Proteas T20 opening batsman, Quinton De Kock was named ‘Man of Series’ in the series vs Australia.

In a disappointing series for the hosts, South Africa, it was again the tourists Australia who adapted best to the conditions and outplayed the Proteas. Australia outlined their World Twenty20 credentials as they chased down South Africa’s modest total in just 15 overs to win the third and final Twenty20 International by six wickets on Friday 14 March.

Where South Africa had made the SuperSport Park pitch appear stodgy and batting seem difficult, Australia proved conditions were not so tricky as Aaron Finch hit 39 from 27 balls and Shane Watson struck two sixes in his 35.

South Africa’s only meaningful contribution with the bat came from Quinton de Kock, whose 41 came at a run a ball as they posted 128-7 in 20 overs. De Kock had also top scored in the reduced 7 overs game and so was named, ‘Man of Series’ at the post match presentation.

Congrats to Quinny and now with our Proteas off to the Twenty20 Tournament, we wish them all the very best!
